Support Worker
This position involves providing assistance to individuals with diverse physical and mental disabilities, aiding them in living more independently and accomplishing their objectives through both emotional and physical support. The role of a Support Worker encompasses a wide range of tasks, each tailored to meet the specific needs of individual service users.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting service users with their daily personal care routines, such as bathing and dressing
- Helping with various domestic tasks, including cooking and cleaning.
- Supporting service users in tasks like shopping, budgeting, and managing finances
- Assessing the practical and emotional needs of service users and collaborating in the development of tailored support plans
- Monitoring the mental health and overall well-being of service users, promptly reporting any significant changes
- Providing emotional support to both service users and their families through active listening and discussion of concerns
- Encouraging service users to pursue their personal goals while always respecting their choices
Essential Requirements:
- A people-focused mindset, driven by a desire to facilitate independence and growth in others.
- Strong communication skills, essential for interacting effectively with service users, families, and other members of the support team. This includes proficiency in numeracy, literacy, and IT.
- A compassionate listener, capable of providing empathetic emotional support.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, able to adapt to and address changing situations.
- A team player who can work independently while also thriving in a collaborative environment.
- Qualifications in Health & Social Care or a willingness to work towards obtaining them.
- Dedication to assisting others and delivering personalized, person-centered support.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of relevant policies and procedures to ensure the safety of service users.
- Possession of a full and up-to-date DBS check.
- Competent knowledge of necessary IT systems, with specifics outlined in the job description if applicable.
- Possession of a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle, which may be essential for roles involving community support or desirable for facilitating day trips for service users in supported living accommodation. However, travel may not always be a requirement.
